Dumbo

Location: Chobe National Park, Botswana
Description: Elephants use their large ears for numerous reasons. While they can be used to cool itself down, it is especially pertinent for tourists, especially on self-guided game drives, to understand when an elephant is using its ears to communicate its discomfort. If an elephant is facing you with ears extended and held out to the side with its trunk and tusks raised, it can mean that the elephant is trying to look intimidating and that your presence is infringing on the elephant’s comfort zone.
